After installing 7-Zip, you can simply double-click a DMG file to open it and browse its contents. If you’d like to extract the files from the DMG so they’re easier to work with, right-click the DMG file, point to the “7-Zip” menu, and then choose one of the extraction options. This is not exactly with MySQL but I hope it can give you an idea, I basically use this for testing against a MySQL database from my local environment, for this I use docker-compose and MariaDB, I configure the 'data-dir' as a volume so that I can stop/start the docker container without the need to 'seed' every time the database. I can indeed see all the Windows Updates done on the evening of July 3 (remembering the problem showed up the next day).
It is an option to uninstall these, although some do not have the uninstall option available, as is Microsoft's way. I'm not at that point yet.
The Windows server is a virtual machine running under KVM on the CentOS box. I mention this because we have an image of it (pre-July 3 Windows Updates) which our tech consultant has running on different hardware and it is fine, of course, being before the Windows Updates. We then applied ALL current Windows Updates to this and did NOT experience the problem, which is very curious. If we can't replicate the issue on the VM copy, then if we want to back off Windows Updates we can only do so on the production box, unfortunately.
We do have samba installed on the CentOS box, but it is not offering up file systems of any sort for mounting on other system, only the Windows Server is doing that.
